This suite has been conceived as an imaginary ballet in five movements: Rondo, Aria, Capriccio, Recitativo and Toccata. It features driving rhythms, percussive effects and expressive harmonic motifs. / Clavecin

The edition is the first part of the commissioned work Our Lady's Minstrel. While Prelude paraphrases the famous chorale Salve Regina in a slow waltz, the gipsy-like cheerful waltz of Dance forms a stark contrast to it. This variation on Noël Nouvelet develops, in an ornamental texture, a popular French Renaissance carol inspired by the incipit of the Marian gregorian hymn, Ave maris stella. / Orgue

The edition is the second part of the commissioned work Our Lady's Minstrel. The through-composed music of Three Poems takes up verses from the English translation of Le Jongleur de Notre-Dame, a tale from medieval France.
