It's an incredibly light, but in turn delicate, whistle since it's made of aluminum. It gives a nice bright tone, but starts to quiver when playing its very highest notes. A raspy transition from 1st to 2nd octaves. A perfect beginner model, simple to learn and easy to use. It is lots of fun and definately worth the 4 or so dollars. If you are looking for something quiet though, do not take this, rather go for a Low D whistle because this can get quite loud.
Works well for the class my child is taking. Very high pitched and fun for her to play on repeat. I suggest a good pair of ear plugs for the parents!
Upper octave is airy and loses all tone.
Lower octave is generally ok.
(If you don't mind spending more for a beginning tin whistle, I recommend Jerry Freeman's "Tweaked" whistles for Consistency of sound between registers, sweet high notes, tuned, etc... Bluebird is my favorite Tweaked whistle.)
