The K92’s generous 40mm drivers deliver the highest sensitivity and widest frequency response of the K52 and K72 - resulting in powerful output that reveals every detail. The K92s also feature a low-impedance design for compatibility with a broad range of playback devices, from professional studio gear to portable music players.
Closed-Back Design - Get Lost in Your Sound
The K92 headphones’ closed-back design eliminates audio leakage and delivers sound to your ears only. The mic won’t pick up the sound of the click track in your headphones - and you’ll always be able to mix and master peacefully without being distracted by outside noise. This exceptional level of audio isolation is due to a new acoustic chamber, which sits between the ear cup and the hinge that connects to the headband.

Closed-Back Design - Get Lost in Your SoundThe K92 headphones’ closed-back design eliminates audio leakage and delivers sound to your ears only. The mic won’t pick up the sound of the click track in your headphones - and you’ll always be able to mix and master peacefully without being distracted by outside noise. This exceptional level of audio isolation is due to a new acoustic chamber, which sits between the ear cup and the hinge that connects to the headband. Our innovative design gives you the freedom to move your head in any direction, without letting sound in or out. With the K92, you’ll enjoy a private workspace, no matter where you choose to create. |
The Style that Fits All - Comfortable ListeningGetting the perfect mix sometimes means monitoring track levels for hours - and that’s when comfort really counts. We designed our unique self-adjusting headband to automatically create the perfect fit for every band member. No need to mess with delicate sizing mechanisms, which have the potential to break over time. The exposed headband design keeps the K92 headphones comfortably light, without compromising driver size. Breathable, lightweight ear pads encircle your ears, rather than putting pressure on them. The golden accents emphasis the high level of quality and create a stylish appeal. And a single-sided cable gives you freedom to move. To sum it up, these high-performance headphones sound, feel and look great. |
Professional Build Quality - Long Live the MusicAKG is known for making professional-grade gear that can stand the test of time and the K92 headphones are no exception. We put them through extreme testing and abuse to ensure they'll handle anything you throw at them: Our regimen of drop-tests simulates, exaggerated falls. Gold-plated connections and 80,000 cable bend cycles - at both end points - ensure the cable won't break or under-perform. And intensive driver testing - a prolonged series of 3W bursts every half second - means that the drivers won't fail when you really need them. Since ear pads are often the first components to show wear we made them replaceable to protect your investment over time. With exception performance and elegant design to match the K92 is built for pros. |
The AKG Legacy - Inspiring Greatness for Decades
For more than 65 years, AKG has helped create the iconic sounds of some of the world’s most well known recording artists, engineers and producers. Our designers and engineers have made it their life’s passion to find new ways to deliver breakthrough experiences for artists of all levels. Whether in the studio or on stage, when you wear AKG headphones, you’re seconds away from creating history.

Other minuses that have been mentioned are the very long cable, which most people will find to be entering the realm of absurdity. To the poor reviewer whose cable got tangled up in the wheels of their chair until they threw the headphones at a wall in rage; thank you, you've inspired me to coil the cable and tie it up so it's effectively 1.5 metres rather than 300.
I'm not much of an audiophile, but I've been making s***ty electronic music in my bedroom for the past two years so I know a little bit about sounds and stuff. These sound really fantastic to my ear, although my only comparison points are consumer grade in ear headphones and a pair of Marley Liberate XL's so keep that in mind. The XL's are pretty good but they lean noticeably towards lower frequencies, having Marley's signature warm, bassy sound. These on the other hand are supposed to be neutral so I was worried that with my electronic tendencies there wouldn't be enough bass to satisfy me. Strangely that is not the case at all, the bass doesn't sound much quieter than my Marley's, it's punchier and a hundred times more detailed.
As a little side note, the fact that the bass didn't disappoint me lends a little weight to the man who said these had very bloated bass. I don't have a pair of headphones that I know are fully neutral so I can't say for myself whether the bass is actually bloated, however I can say that the bass never feels overpowering and doesn't smother the mids or highs, all frequencies sound incredibly detailed to me, especially the highs. In fact, the highs are a tad harsh in certain songs with particularly harsh percussion, I've mainly experienced this with trap and haven't had any issues with jazz, rock or old school hip hop,– only electronic music.
On the note of highs I haven't heard any noticeable sibilance excepting during "Heartbreak" by Yelawolf.
They aren't particularly portable, but I sort of like the purity of the fact that don't really do anything except play music. No in line mic or controls, no bells or whistles just good music, which is a pretty beautiful approach and embodied by a very beautiful pair of headphones. These look absolutely stunning, despite the fact that the materials look (and probably are, given the price) cheap. I'll definitely be keeping AKG in mind for future purchases on account of their appearanc alone.
I think that pretty much sums up this review. I like these a lot and have been primarily listening to music over the past couple of days to hear all of the details I missed before, everything sounds so much clearer and more alive than before. Would definitely recommend these cans :)
Pros:
Good price when on sale
Long cord
Sound good when used with a headphone amp
Headband is snug but not tight, won't squeeze your head
Very comfortable over the ear pads
Cons:
MSRP is way too high for what you get -- don't pay full price for these
Cheap and plastic-y construction, questionable durability
Stereo jack is not gold plated so you will get some crackle and may have to reinsert or rotate the jack a few times to get a clean sound from it.
Really needs a headphone amp to sound its best.
Initially, I was very unimpressed with these headphones. They sounded flat and muffled. This was using the headphone jack on my phone and computer speakers. Then I tried them on a USB DAC with a strong headphone amp built in and the sound really opened up. Suddenly they had good tight bass and decently clear highs. Definitely recommend using with a headphone amp!
It can get fatiguing to be on one's head for several hours, but I am sensitive to stimuli so that could be just me.
Would recommend.
I'll Be Buying another Set Soon.... fo Sho.

Not an audiophile product but not an audiophile price. I use them to listen to news, music and movies. Very comfortable.
