Not only that, but they sound pretty good too despite being entirely low volume. The 16 and 18 inch crashes both are unique with distinctly different pitches upon striking. The 14 hi -hats have a great sizzle to them when playing open, and they can make a great tick sound when striking closed with the tip of the stick.
Couldn't recommend more for the lowest volume possible compared to other low volume cymbals out there, and also for the perfect replication of rebound and feel so that you can switch to full volume, and not notice a difference in your style.
I moved and now have to practice in my basement. Adding tons of soundproofing is out of the question. These cymbals were perfect for my needs. They are "real" cymbals that really sound like cymbals so you aren't wailing away on a rubber practice pad stuck over your favorite ride. The perforations are curious and take a bit of getting used to, but that's not bad, and you need them to get rid of mass. Less mass = less volume.
If you are considering this cymbal pack, do yourself a favor and get the 20" ride, too. The 18" is a bit hokey as a ride, but great as a crash. The 20", however, feels and sounds like a real ride.
The bells on these cymbals won't sound like those on good B20 bronze models, but if you accept them for what they are, they still isn't bad. I also bought the 10" splash. It is a bit thick & isn't as bright sounding as a "real" hand-hammered 10" splash, but it still isn't a bad cymbal at all.
So....would I play these in public in a small venue where I really need to keep the volume down? Absolutely.
I'm mostly a Sabian guy and bought these for practice. I really was impressed by the quality and sound. And... I just noticed Sabian and Dream have released "copy cat" products. What does that tell you? If you need to keep your volume down but want the experience of playing real bronze, I'd highly recommend the L80 product line.
They do work for their intended purpose. For me, that's reducing practice volume to a level that will not bother neighbors. These are great at that. With a good feel and distinct tonal differences, I practice for hours with these on my kit and have zero issues with noise traveling far outside of the house.
The caveat: they maul wooden sticks. The included pic shows an eaten-up Vater 5B on the left. You can also see the amount of sawdust left under my hats from a single, 2 hour practice session.
I'm a fairly loud player, but don't consider myself a heavy hitter. Never put a dent in a head and only one cracked cymbal in my life.
I've taken to sandpaper in an attempt to finish the edges as it does feel as though they're rough. Possibly not machined correctly, but either way, at $15 a pop for a set of sticks, these cymbals are now costing me money.
**NOTE: I purchased these a long time ago, but didn't get back to playing until recently. It was only when I ramped up to a serious 1-3 hour daily practice that this issue became apparent.
It's ok, Zildjian, I still love you.

Listen to the video and hear the difference between the normal China and the l80s
I was skeptical at first but after playing them they do sound like genuine cymbals. Just imagine you’re playing normal cymbals with earplugs in and this is what you get. The hi-hats in particular sound so good. Same feel, just with a much lower volume.
Only thing is now the snare and toms are overpowering
