Lars Karlsson (b. 1952) has followed his own distinctive route on the Finnish contemporary music scene as a romantic modernist. The song cycle Sju sanger till text av Par Lagerkvist (Seven songs to texts by Par Lagerkvist, 2010-12) for baritone and chamber orchestra was nominated for the Nordic Council Music Prize in 2018. The piano reduction was made in collaboration by Patrik Vidjeskog and the composer, and is suitable for concert performance as well. The orchestral material is available for hire from Fennica Gehrman.
