Rubber washers as strap locks? Surprisingly good.

Rubber washers as strap locks? Surprisingly good.
The rubber washer strap lock has perplexed me for a long time, one of those "how the hell does that work?" kinda deals. So a few months back I purchased a pair (it was cheap, so why not.) Tried em out on my new Les Paul Custom. I have my guitar slung low so the angle of the top strap button by the neck guarantees my strap will pop off without a strap lock of some kind. I had been using the old Schallers, but whatever kind of metal they used didn't last super long. The metal would grind away & the strap locks would become ineffective after only a few months of heavy (& aggressive) use. They'd just slip off if I picked my guitar up. Needless to say, it gets annoying (& expensive) having to change out on a regular basis. So I checked out these rubber ones. The rubber is stiff & not the easiest thing to put on (the kinda thing where you feel like your fingernails will rip off trying to get it over a strap button. BUT, I have yet to have an issue with them. They haven't slipped off, no matter how rough my playing style is. I'm sure these have their issues, just like every other thing, but I have yet to find them. And for only a couple bucks, they're great for the price. My only real issue with them is aesthetic. Black & red only. The black blends in, the red is super obvious, especially on the guitars I own. I'd like if more color options (i'd settle for only black) were available.
