Outlandish Strings Sounds on Your Guitar
The Heet PlusEbow replicates a variety of sounds you can't usually hear on a guitar such as horns or cello. It uses Direct String Synthesis to produce a powerful, infinite sustain. You can create rich harmonics straight from a guitar string without using plug-in effects.
Johnny Rzeznik of the Goo Goo Dolls uses this electronic bow to produce organ-like sounds on his guitars. Famous guitarists Paul Stanley (Kiss) and Dave Navarro (Red Hot Chili Peppers) also use the PlusEBow on their recordings.

Added on January 7th: 2nd day of using the EBow, things work out much better. Got the right grip on it now, found the hot spot on the fret pick up and started to play first melodies. Used a Whammy pedal upfront with 1Octave down, 2Octave down, Dive bomb(!) and now things start to shine! From deepest cello sounds to horn/tuba sounds, this tool is able to do it right. Plus using an Analog PingPong delay which makes my guitar howl and growl from left to right cabs. Sigur Ros might have used this EBow on their earlier recordings. Slided and tapped with my fingers slowly slowly and the sustain is unbelievable. Involving the Whammy creates endless feedback sweepings by moving the pedal footswitch down and up. This is a steep learning curve worthwile to practise every day.
Added on January 9th: Practising every day and still with my first 9v battery. By using the EBow in conjuction with my Whammy, DD-500 and Organizer pedals creates the most spheric soundscapes ever produced by my pedal army alone. Gets me very close to Moog Synth Blofeld or Evolver Oscillating LFO sounds. Playing string by string on all frets and enjoying it a lot. Tried my first kind of single note playing chords on A, D,G strings from the 12th fret upwards, by tapping the EBow on the sweet spot of the fret pick up from string to string. It is a tone by tone melody, and as long as I do not press the EBow too close to the vibrating strings, results are fantastic. Sounds like a classical tune, beautiful! Harmonics mode on the EBow works on frets 1-5 as well. The learning process using this tool takes indeed a lot of time, no doubt on that. But my personal reward is creating outlandish sounds, pieces of smaller classical tunes and sometimes unpredictable feedbacks which is great for me as a musician who likes being curious in exploring soundscapes beyond the controllable. I do like the EBow's versatility and definitely I can recommend it to every musician.
I always thought the sound in the song was a synthesizer, until I saw Martin Gore pull this out of and play it on his guitar..
Fun to experiment with get cools sounds, recorded a couple of songs with it...fun add on.....
Seems to work very well on G string, has two settings, takes a little bit to get the vibration figured out it creates, and where to place betweeen the pickups. I seem to like it closure to the neck pickup on fenders, and and seems to do well on both on my les paul’s..
