Editor Antony Beaumont suggests that the Six Songs of Opus 13 are "arguably his finest." When first published in 1914, the suite included the name of the poet Maeterlinck in the title, and some confusion over voice range resulted in the transposition of two of the songs, over Zemlinsky's stern objection. This new edition addresses these issues, restoring the songs to their original keys. Note that this edition for voice and piano is not compatible with the orchestral version and cannot be used as a piano/vocal score.
