Composed at the start of his career in 1852-3 Johannes Brahms' Piano Sonatas were amongst the 20-year-old composer's first publications. It is the slow movement of the Piano Sonata In C Major Op.1 which uses the song 'Verstohlen geht der Mond auf' that bears the earliest date April 1852.With this passionate and highly virtuosic Sonata Brahms introduced himself to the great of the musical world of his day including the Schumanns in Düsseldorf.
