Premiered at the Borealis Festival Bergen in March 2009 this single movement symphony for solo organ is a deconstruction and devlopment of an unfinished Bach chorale prelude. With a powerful ending this is a challenging and highly rewarding work.

This work for solo organ is based on the piece submitted by Finnissy for his Royal College of Music audition which was scored for solo voices organ and orchestra after Mahler's model. The original work was microtonal; although the microtones have been removed some of the eccentric pitch-spelling has been kept as has the original structure.

This set of four solo organ 'symphonies' is full of colour and draws on stylistic influences ranging from the late Baroque to Mahler. The individual pieces have a flexible approach to registration but give advice on the intended style allowing a range of interpretation and enjoyment for performer and listener alike.
